Aaron Goldberg Wins 4th Annual ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship

Halton Hills, ON. The 2010 ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship came down to a playoff for the second year in a row. After 72 holes of golf, Aaron Goldberg of Carlsbad, CA and Trey Denton of Canton, MS were deadlocked at 276 (-8).  In the first playoff hole Goldberg chipped in from the greenside rough for an eagle and was crowned the champion of the 2010 ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship.

"I was just trying to get it close" said Goldberg when asked to describe his winning chip, "I figured that if I could make birdie that we'd go to the second playoff hole.  I was pretty excited when it went in."

It was an up and down final round for Goldberg carding three early bogies, but bouncing back, he birdied four of the last nine holes for a score of 70 (-1).

"On the 11th hole I chipped in for birdie, and that was a huge momentum shift in my round today; it got me going for the rest of the back nine" said Goldberg.

The Canadian Tour's ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship was played at the prestigious Greystone Golf Club in Halton Hills. 2010 marked the fourth year of the ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship (JRC), the only full field Canadian Tour event in the GTA.

The event also acknowledges the low Canadian with the annual presentation of the Gord Coyle Cup; this distinction and cash prize of $5,000 belonging to Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, BC with a four day total of 281(-3). Hadwin was also the low Canadian at the recent 2010 RBC Canadian Open, a PGA TOUR event.

There was some great scoring this week, including a 63 in the third round for Goldberg, tying the Greystone Golf Club course record.  The scorecard, to be hung just outside the Greystone Golf Shop, shows 8 birdies and no bogeys.

The ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship is named and presented in honour of Jane Rogers, a courageous, loving, classy and generous woman who, while battling cancer herself, raised funds for her cancer clinic at Mississauga's Trillium Health Centre and inspired family, friends and strangers alike. Throughout her entire life, Jane gave without question and supported many charitable initiatives. She was a lover of golf and of the Canadian Tour, and this event is a tribute to her and her spirit of giving.

Net proceeds from the ClubLink Jane Rogers Championship will go to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada and Mississauga's Trillium Health Centre Oncology Unit. These two outstanding charities were close to Jane's heart and will continue to benefit from Jane's legacy of charitable giving.
